Why Sterilisation (Nutering/Spaying)?While adopting a dog/cat, irrespective of its gender. once sterilised they lose thier reproductive capabilities. It is a totally normal procedure, especially for population managament of Indie dogs and cats (stray dogs/cats). We highly recommend you spay/nuter your pet after 6 months of age.

Benefits of Sterilisation.1) Spaying (medical term for Female Dog Sterilisation - OVH/OvaryHisterectomy ) is the process of removal of the female dog's reproductive organs. Once sterilised, female dogs will not have heat cycle and hence will not be able to reproduce. 2) Neutering (medical term for Male Dog Sterilisation) helps in keeping unnecessary domination & aggression will in check. 3) Sterilisation protects dogs from Cancer/Tumour which they might develop after 7yrs of age, any surgery at this age is risky for the dog. Female dogs are protected from Mammary gland cancer, uterus infection while male dog’s get protection from Testicular Cancer, Prostate Gland issues... 4) Sterilisation is a completly normal procedure with a fast recovery speed.
-
Myths about Sterilisation.1) Sterilisation is not painful; it does not hurt as it's done under the influence of anesthesia. 2) The character of the animal does not suffer alteration. 3) Animals do not experience sexuality as human beings do. For an animal sex is only the physical process of reproduction. it’s not an essential need for a dog. So no need to feel bad/sorry to deprive the sex life. 4) A sterilised dog will be as active & alert as a unsterilized. If you only need a dog to guard your property, we suggest you install an electronic alarm system instead. 5) Sterilisation is not going against the nature.

What is Adopt Dont Shop? The evils of breeding and selling dogs for profitWe reject the practice of breeding puppies for profit. By supporting adoption, we denounce & reject the cruel practise of Puppy Mill’s where the dog is used only as a reproduction machine & not much cared for. The mothering dogs are kept in pathetic & pitiable condition with no access to good food, love & Care and abandoned once they are no more fit to reproduce. The pups born out of these puppy mills are not that healthy, not vaccinated, suffer from diseases such as Parvo, Hip Displasia, Epilepsy… & are of lower immunity as they are not allowed to feed on the precious mother’s milk. Continuous Breeding weakens the genes of the dog, so the offspring also are born with low immunity & weaker, making them susceptible to many ailments, while also affecting their recovery cycle.
